Olsen’s Fur Backpack Slammed By PETA. Duh!
Though completely predictable, it doesn’t make the facts less poignant: PETA has reacted against the latest creation of the Olsen sisters’ The Row. We talked about the absurdity of a $ 16,000 fur backpack, but PETA is pushing things even further by saying “What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value”. Fashion is cruel. We are not. {FoxNews}

On Set With the Intel Ultrabook
As Glam’s executive editor technology plays an integral role in my life, my laptop and assortment of gadgets are amongst my most important go to accessories. So when Intel asked me to appear in their fall Ultrabook campaign with fellow digeratti Amy Levin of CollegeFashionista.com and Ashley Madekwe, who stars in Revenge and is a blogger herself, I was all too happy to oblige.
In April I headed to LA for a full day shoot at Siren Studios, complete with a stylist, wardrobe changes, hair, makeup, manicures, and a green room. My first look was a maroon/metallic combo, an ensemble that was elevated by a killer pair of Fendi heels. For the second shot I wore a blue button down and a classic pair of skinny jeans, which I paired with patent cobalt pumps. Both outfits totally reflected my personal style!

Would You Wear… a Yellow Blazer?

Photo Credit: Vanessa V. on Lookbook.nu, Pax I. on Lookbook.nu, and Iulial on Chictopia
Sunshine, daffodils, tiny-weenie polka dot bikinis… is there a color more summery than yellow? We simply cannot get enough of the bright hue, most recently in blazer form. Whether you’re headed to your summer internship or just around town, the yellow blazer is versatile and oh-so sartorially perfect.
We suggest pairing a yellow blazer with complimentary colors like blue or purple to make it pop. If your style leans more towards the classics, stay safe by pairing it with black and white.

Chanel Haute Couture AW2012
Haute Couture Fashion Week continued today with Chanel presenting a beautifully wearable collection inspired by the late Coco herself. Designer Karl Lagerfeld displayed an incredibly prim yet elegant collection to the eager crowd, with Alexa Chung, Sofia Coppola, Anna Wintour and Diane Kruger (who looked stunning in a black beret and cornflower blue dress from the Chanel’s previous couture collection), all in attendance.
The runway itself was simple in comparison to the theatrical aluminum plane Karl presented in during Spring/Summer Couture Week – a slate catwalk was flanked by a row of white wicker tables and chairs, ensuring all eyes were fixed on the couture. The show, entitled New Vintage, certainly lived up to its name as the first of the models appeared in classic tweed suits that evolved into a modern ensemble when teamed with metallic ombre gloves, matching clutch bags, and shimmering silver tights (which we’re betting everyone will want come Winter). Oversized tartan patterns adorned knitwear and stunning clean-cut coats, with sleeves rolled to emphasize an updated twist. Relaxed trouser and skirt suits paid tribute to the early years of Chanel, whilst cocoon style coats and heavily embellished detailing gave the collection its distinctly modern edge.
Karl’s presence could certainly be found in the eveningwear, where black and silver reigned. Sheer billowing blouses, large bows tied at the neck, and Peter Pan collars emerged as the show moved forward, providing an overall playful tone. With a colour palette consisting of lilacs, pinks, charcoal and black throughout, the collection was pretty without trying too hard; even the dreamy appliqué florals and layered tulle appeared to have a tough undercurrent.

Meet the Team USA Women’s Gymnastics Team–and Their Hair and Makeup

The Olympics don’t officially start for a few weeks, but this weekend gymnasts competed in the US Olympics Trials, hoping to score a spot on Team USA. It was a mesmerizing few nights of theater (like poor Nastia Liukin’s face plant–awful). But after all the drama, we have five new Olympians (and three alternates) who are headed to London.
While we love watching the superhuman feats they perform–and because it’s our job to notice such things–we also love watching what they wear, namely in their hair and on their faces. When we chatted with ex-Olympian Alicia Sacramone (who sadly didn’t make the Olympic team this year), we learned a few secrets about gymnasts and their beauty proclivities. A few things we learned: Scrunchies are still very a much a thing and one’s eye makeup should always match your leotard. With this new knowledge in mind, we present to you the five ladies of Team USA, who range in age from 15-18.
Click through to meet them all and for a peek at their hair and makeup during the Olympic trials.
