Last week, Salvatore Ferragamo hosted the first ever runway show to be held inside the Louvre, and we have exclusive video footage of the historical event. VIP attendees like Hilary Swank, Freida Pinto, and Leighton Meester watched the brand unveil its Mediterranean vacation-inspired Resort 2013 collection on a 460-foot runway under the museum’s Denon Wing colonnade. It’s safe to say we kind of have a teeny crush on Aussie designer Dion Lee: Besides the fact that he makes sleek clothes for super cool girls, he is adorably charming in person. So when we heard he would be in New York City showing his resort collection, we popped by for a look and to chat with the designer, whose global star is on the rise.
Lee showed for the first time outside of Australia last season in London, where he staged a small presentation for fall. While the Sydney fashion industry was disappointed to have lost him in their fashion week lineup, Lee explained that showing in his hometown would have meant staging three presentations in one year and that he wanted “concentrate on the clothes” instead. He confirmed to us that he’ll be showing again in London in September, but this time it will be a full-on runway show.
His resort looks were inspired by the lunar tides and how the moon affects the ocean–reflected in some cool rippling, aqua prints–and the theme continued with pieces fashioned from wetsuit material with “gill-like” cut-outs, and embossing that looked a bit like scales.

I cross my fingers for Joan’s to be just the same! I know she can deliver, so it was really just up to the editors if they wanted it big or just… average. And as far as I can tell, the cover is big, so that’s saying something already!

Back in January, rumors began swirling about Lady Gaga’s upcoming foray into the perfume business, and now the singer has released details about her new fragrance after they began to leak online.
According to a press release from fragrance giant Coty, the perfume, called “Fame,” will launch in September 2012 and will be released by “the Artist’s own Haus Laboratories in association with Coty.”
