Last week, in the middle of New York fashion week, and on a night that felt like the absolutely, most frigid night of this complete winter, I ducked into an indoor pop-up park in SoHo (yes, they exist) to escape the elements and curl up fetus-style on a beanbag chair with my 6″ Italian herbs and cheese tuna sub. What I encountered inside was far less relaxing but about 10,000 occasions far more wonderful. It went a lot like this: Read more…

scott uggs Quoted: The SartorialistHey if Scott Schuman says they’re OK, then it may well be time to break out your Uggs. The Sartorialist put up a few pictures of fashionable New Yorkers wearing the Australian shearling boots and provided a couple of suggestions for wearing them out in public.  Do you agree?

Mad Print: Mary Katrantzou Fall Winter 2012 2013 Collection

Mary Katrantzou’s Fall Winter 2012 2013 collection was really hard to pin amongst the trends we’ve observed so far taking Fashion Week by storm. There was no fur. No leather. But there was plenty of print material to make up for that!

Mary Katrantzou’s genius was all in the difficult worked particulars, the hidden meanings of the several prints, the intricate sartorial pride that’s pushing her further and additional in fashionista’s hearts. (she even worked a unique collaboration with Topshop and some pieces of the collection are still available right here). Undoubtedly one particular of the most fascinating designers to watch, wouldn’t you say? (pictures with the whole collection right here)

Guess Summer 2012 Women’s Lookbook

GUESS W S12 03 thumb 466x345 87180 Guess Summer 2012 Womens Lookbook

Guess showed its beautiful Summer collection during NYFW. Happening in Chelsea, the models had been standing on pedestals for us to view, wearing these clothes from the Summer 2012 collection. It was the most colorful show, flowing dresses and frilly shirts, paired with cropped bleached denim jackets.

I completely dig the zebra jeans below. They are right in tune with the “animal” trend and wearing those, you can bring out your inner negative girl. And, you know what? Go for it! Just pair those with very high heels with a transparent best, and you are on your way!

Mary Katrantzou Fall 2012: Everyday Extraordinary

Mary Katrantzou Fall 2012: Everyday Extraordinary

LONDON–First of all, I would like to thank the seating fairies for granting me a perch on a front row bench for this show–if there is any collection you want to see up close, it is Mary Katrantzou‘s. I would also like to give a shout-out to whoever writes her show notes: I was riveted. Just this sentence killed me: “No sequin is left unturned.” From starting to end this show was actually an aesthetic pleasure to behold. (Forgive me if I sound hyperbolic–as I’m writing this, I’m really tired. But each word is accurate.)

When I got the invitation, it featured a multi-hued box of crayons, which is how Katrantzou organized her color story this season. Rather than a mix of a million colors on a garment, as has been her MO in the past, she decided to do a show split into seven distinct colorways, exactly where the wearer basically has on the very same color from head-to-toe. She started with white and ended with black and hit quite much everything other color in in between.
