The Headgear Options Are Infinite at Victor Osborne

If there’s one trend you can really get behind this summer, it’s this: Snooki tans are out and sun-shielding hats are in. Thanks to milliner Victor Osborne’s newest shop, officially opening in Williamsburg this weekend, looking PC-cool is easier than ever. And like its large, older Lower East Side sibling, the atelier deals exclusively in Osborne’s nostalgic, handmade hats.
Drawing inspiration from Marlene Dietrich movies, architecture, and a birds’-nest-wearing great-aunt, Osborne makes all of the inventory himself. The hat forms enhancing the store’s minimalist-Victorian décor are a nod to his DIY ethos, and while the 30 hats from his spring/summer collection are available in-store (fedoras, porkpies, cloches, etc.), a large portion of the inventory is custom-made. Click ahead to see a slideshow of some of our favorite pieces from the new space.
Victor Osborne, 358 Grand St., nr. Marcy Ave., Williamsburg (718-388-8480); Friday-Sunday, noon-8.

Get an Award-Winning, DIY Self Tan from Sun Labs
Many self tanners suffer from two main drawbacks: less-than-believable orangey color and that distinctive, unpleasant smell. Not so with the self-tanners from Sun Laboratories, which recently picked up a "Best Dark Self Tanner" nod from the picky folk at Consumer Reports. Amazon reviews are similarly positive, lauding Sun Labs as "one of the best on the market" (this after 8 years of use) and "the self-tanner that I keep coming back to."
Formulated with a natural blend of ingredients to keep your skin hydrated and a sugar derivative to enhance your enhanced color, it's fast-acting (sets in three hours) and is safe for all skin types seeking a dramatically sun-kissed hue.

Serena Williams Looking Wimbledon-Champion Hot in August Harper’s Bazaar
While yet another Wimbledon title (her 4th!) and £1 million in prize money (the highest ever) is all good and well, not to mention 26 Grand Slam titles, it is Serena Williams’s new body is arguably her biggest victory yet. The tennis champ shows off her svelte silhouette in a glam swimsuit by Eres in the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar – on newsstands July 20. “I was 23 when I realized that I wasn’t Venus,” she explains in the accompanying interview. “She’s totally different. I’m super curvy. I have big boobs and this massive butt. She’s tall and she’s like a model and she fits everything. I was growing up, wanting to be her, wanting to look like her, and I was always fitting in her clothes, but then one day I couldn’t. But it’s fine. Now I’m obviously good, but it’s a weird thing. . . . To this day, I don’t love my arms. People want more fit arms, but my arms are too fit. But I’m not
complaining. They pay my bills.”
She also opens up about dating, why she broke up with rapper/actor Common, and the joys of embracing her curves and body image. “Since I don’t look like every other girl, it takes a while to be okay with that. To be different. But different is good. I feel so much sexier with short hair. I wanted to reach inside me and feel better. I don’t want to hide behind a facade of hair.”

Juliette Lewis New Blue Hairdo
Juliette Lewis is one of those enchanting performers who always put on a show. Whether on the big screen or on stage (singing, that is), Juliette is great at what she does.
And that blue hair only comes to sustain that theory – yes, she has blue hair, but she looks good with it. (doesn’t she?) I’m guessing it’s not a new look (the dark roots are heavily present), however, that doesn’t change one thing – blue/grey hair is in fashion. Would you do it? Blue hair? (photos via)

For its Fall/Winter 2010-11 Ad Campaign, Louis Vuitton Goes Glam & 50s
Shot in New York by Steven Meisel, Louis Vuitton's Fall/Winter 2010-2011 campaign features Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova channeling some serious feminine mystique against a backdrop of soft sepia tones. Set in what resembles a classic movie star's dressing room from an age gone by, the ladies are surrounded by stacks of shoe boxes filled with the season's collection of bow-front pumps peeking out. The look is all about sweet bustiers, retro knits, and full skirts – arms decorated with the new take on the iconic Speedy bag in alligator, waxed calf leather, and flocked & sequined Monogram canvas.
