HP Celebrates Sex and the City 2

Sex and the City 2 has arrived and Tuesday night we had the opportunity to join HP and Condé Nast Media Group for an advanced screening of the film. Fashion insiders like Ivanka Trump, Tommy Hilfiger, Christian Siriano, Prabal Gurung, model Karlie Kloss, Charlotte Ronson, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, The City’s Olivia Palermo, Tinsley Mortimer, Courtney Love, Liya Kebede and Yigal Azrouel flocked to The Paris Theater to get a sneak preview; the film’s four stars were absent as they were on a plane to London for the European premiere. The evening opened with an HP commercial featuring the gals and the innovative brand’s computers made their way into the movie as well. The HP Mini Vivienne Tam edition makes its way to Abu Dhabi and Samantha uses the TouchSmart Desktop in her office. Carrie however remained loyal to her Mac.
After sitting through SATC2, the audience response was mixed. Most thought it was better than the first, while a few were disappointed. Trump walked out before tweeting “Sex & the City was 2 and a half hour infomercial. So disappointing. I left early.” Bensimon was pleased with the costumes. “I just loved looking at all those clothes,” exclaimed.We’d say the movie provided sufficient eye candy, but a few things were lacking. New York City deserved more screen time; for a show based on the lives of four friends living in the Big Apple, we were left wanting more. How else will countless tourists and SATC wannabes know what’s cool? We guess they will have to head to Abu Dhabi (or Morocco where the movie was actually filmed). And one of the things we loved most about the show was Carrie’s eclectic style, this time around the icon wears too much of the same. We know Sarah Jessica Parker is the creative consultant at Halston Heritage and we love the brand, but having her wear the pleated dress on screen in three colors was overkill.

We must admit that we film eager to scoop one up for ourselves and were immediately greeted by a sparkly blue version in the SATC2 inspired windows at Bergdorf Goodman, where the after party was held. BG was transformed into a Middle Eastern harem with Mediterranean cuisine, a tented dance floor, gold rimmed champagne flutes, and belly dancers stationed throughout the first floor of the iconic department store. HP laptops were displayed alongside designer handbags and glistening jewels; guests were able to transport themselves into the film thanks to the HP Experience photo booth. The well heeled crowd, which included HP collaborator Vivienne Tam, Reem Acra, Willie Garson, Mario Cantone, and executive producer Michael Patrick King, circulated the space soaking in the apropos atmosphere. We made the rounds before heading downtown to enjoy more of the city that SATC2 seemed to abandon this time around. ~Nola Weinstein

There’s a new men’s shaving and grooming line out of Ottowa, Canada. The Crown Shaving Company work to make “are made for men-to make you look and feel like a man…” Well, the good thing is that most men who are willing to dip the budgets into good grooming products probably already feel like a man. It would be better to say that Crown Shaving just enhaces all of that. I tested their shaving creme this week and have to say that it does indeed do the trick. “Our rich lathers and lotions are carefully formulated with the finest natural ingredients to reintroduce the revitalizing luxuries of shaving, lost in recent decades to buzzing electric devices or chemical-laced shortcuts that promote expediency at the expense of a healthy, restorative experience.”

Another youngster has aged herself for fashion: Kelly Osbourne, who attended Elle and Armani Exchange’s “Disco Glam” event last night with a new lavender-gray hair color. She made the trendy color even trendier by wearing it with a nice pouf on top.
