Designers Attend the White House Correspondent’s Dinner
The White House Correspondent’s Dinner always draws DC power brokers and the media elite, but in recent years its become a star studded affair and the fashion world doesnt want to be excluded from the fun. Designers are getting in on the action and they aren’t just dressing celebs and politicians, they are showing up themselves. Donatella Versace attended for the second year in a row–this time in a purple Atelier Versace gown. Michelle Obama favorite Jason Wu posed for pictures with Glamour magazine’s editor-in-chief Cindi Leive, who wore his ink gold-leafed duchess satin sheath dress; former White House social secretary Desiree Rogers also wore one of Wu’s creations. She opted for a red falle sculptured dress from his Fall 2010 collection. Tory Burch, who has been building her insider cred by blogging for the Huffington Post attended the event for the first time. It’s safe to say the District of Columbia got a major dose of chicness all around!
Best Dressed at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner
Michelle Obama set the tone for what was arguably the best dressed White House Correspondent’s Dinner to date. It seems the First Lady has a new design darling as she wore a Prabal Gurung red matte jersey hand draped off the shoulder dress. Stars like Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian and Scarlett Johansson . Alba wore a black Marios Schwab gown with an embroidered Swarovski crystal collar; Johansson went for a shorter more youthful dress by Miu Miu and Kardashian raided her mother’s closet for the vintage black and white ensemble.

A Sneak Peek Inside the 2010 Met Costume Institute Gala
A colorful hot air balloon will greet guests at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, which will take place tonight. We suspect bar tenders to hold court in the basket of the “American Women” balloon as Oprah, Vogue’s Anna Wintour and the Gap’s Patrick Robinson welcome designers and their celebrity friends to the opening of the museum’s latest exhibition “American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.” It’s a far more lighthearted centerpiece than last year’s fierce animal print carpet. And aside from the decor, we also know that Ms. Wintour will be clad in a Chanel Haute Couture sequin jacket and silk dress, while Oprah will don an Oscar de la Renta gown. Balmain Men’s Autumn/Winter 2010 Preview
Balmian presents some low fi looks at their forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. We’re sure that the higher res will pop online soon after this. At that point, we’ll be refiling this piece with some better imagery. Seeing as the line is completely killing it globally. A quick sampling of the Spring collection at Riccardi Boston shows that most of the men’s goods are gone while the women’s line is still in supply. Autumn/Winter should not slow them down one bit.

I told you there was a no-textile wave sweeping the fashion shores! Here’s Helena Christensen working hard for the cause: Reebok EasyTone Trainers got her on board to show us just how Reebok trainers can make us look like (yeah, sure).
And what better way to convince us that a 41-year-old supermodel taking all her clothes off and only keeping her Reebok EasyTones? I sometimes feel angry at what the advertisers are trying to feed us with! However, it seems the EasyTones were designed by an ex-NASA engineer (notorious for spending their life in the gym, right?) and they seem to really be working! (I’ll hold my thoughts for when I’ll be actually trying the trainers, walking the city up and down – talking about urban walks – have you noticed how your trusted Converse will actually bring you pain in long walks?
