Native Son Notch Lapel Stripe Blazer

native son notch striped blazer selectism 0 Native Son Notch Lapel Stripe Blazer

We first ran into the Native Son line in Paris this Winter. We’ve previewed their Autumn collection but with Spring pieces in the shops, we think it is best to bring some shine to out favorites. This “notch lapel stripe blazer” is a special look for a special guy. “Silk and linen slim two-button single vented suit jacket with notch lapels, working cuff buttons, double welt flap pockets, Bemberg rayon lining, and dual interior chest pockets in bold black, charcoal, and dark teal stripe pattern. Union made in the U.S.A.” Blackbird has it for just under 1500$US. It’s up there, guys.

Lindsay Lohan May Have Found Another Design Gig

20100323 lilo 250x375 Lindsay Lohan May Have Found Another Design Gig

Having recently parted ways with the house of Emanuel Ungaro, Lindsay Lohan has more time on her hands to devote to another project. And according to rumors, she wants to stay in design, but perhaps a very different market. A source tells E! she’s in talks to design handbags for Ed Hardy, a label whose customers are far more likely to grasp the appeal of glitter nipple pasties than Ungaro. Apparently Lohan shares “mutual friends” with the Ed Hardy design team, who knew she wanted to do a handbag line.

“As of last week, there are three collections in development and numerous more are expected,” our source says. “Lindsay is very directly involved with the project, and she’s always pulling things online and from magazines for ideas.”

So if anyone was hoping Lohan would exit fashion altogether and try to do more acting, the Ed Hardy people are the facilitators, possibly the pushers. No matter how much they may deserve each other, one must wonder if this is healthy for either of them. Maybe Lindsay should return to music.

The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History Book

the yugo the rise and fall of the worst car in history selectism The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History Book

I was under the impression that the Trabant was the worst car ever made but Jason Vuic has me thinking differently. Amazon’s description of the book The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History Book, is awesome…

“Six months after its American introduction in 1985, the Yugo was a punch line; within a year, it was a staple of late-night comedy. By 2000, NPR’s Car Talk declared it ‘the worst car of the millennium.’ And for most Americans that’s where the story begins and ends. Hardly. The short, unhappy life of the car, the men who built it, the men who imported it, and the decade that embraced and discarded it is rollicking and astounding, and one of the greatest untold business-cum-morality tales of the 1980s. Mix one rabid entrepreneur, several thousand ‘good’ communists, a willing U.S. State Department, the shortsighted Detroit auto industry, and improvident bankers, shake vigorously, and you’ve got The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the Worst Car in History Book.”

ALERT: Kate Moss Doesn’t Always Model Her Own Hands

20100323 mossoldhands 190x190 ALERT: Kate Moss Doesn’t Always Model Her Own Hands
The Rimmel ad.

Cosmetics ads that depict models or celebrities touching their smooth, blemish-free skin could be lies. Those hands do not always belong to the same person as the face, as apparently beauty doesn’t always extend to the tip of every limb. Kate Moss and Lily Cole are just two women who have been paired with a hand model on shoots. Hand model Gemma Howorth, who has worked with both women, makes up to around $3,000 a day for her hand-subbing services. She worked with Moss on a commercial for Rimmel:

‘It was very flattering to stand in for her hands.

i-D Natalia Vodianova, Freja Beha, Sasha Pivovarova Spring 2010

This is one of the reasons I’m happy spring is again upon us! (Not to mention the green green grass and the warm sunlight, happy chirping birds and flowers all around!)

i-D Magazine’s Spring 2010 issue comes with three covers – portraits on a green background. I’m looking at the three and I’m having a hard time choosing the one I like the most: Natalia Vodianova’s childish, playful look? Sasha Pivovarova’s cheeky, wonderful look or Freja Beha’s androgynous stare? Which one’s your favorite i-D? (click through to see them all!) (photos via)
