The Milwaukee Beer Museum

You might have noticed a recent push of online exhibitions here. Reason being is they work well to share interesting bits of history to a broad audience but rarely have the required PR push to spike the traffic they deserve.
Milwaukee’s brewing history gets the shine it deserves at the Milwaukee Beer Museum. The site is easily navigable and includes a fantastic array of ephemera and photographs. Something to take note of is the decided push for architectural images. The city is in and of itself a brewing museum, and the accents to brew buildings just as inventive and amusing as the advertising schemes.
I’ve chosen to highlight some of the pieces related to Blatz, a rarely discussed beer, and think this segement of the site indicative of the whole. Equally strong are the sections on Miller and Pabst.
Read on to view more excellent pieces of Blatz’s history.

Geox’s Empire State of Mind

Geox is in a New York state of mind. For Spring 2010 the brand is launching a limited edition collection of footwear inspired by the Empire State Building. Each pair includes a 5″ heel, which is available in gold and silver, and is shaped like the iconic building. It’s a great time to celebrate the Big Apple as this year also marks the 25th anniversary of New York, New York becoming the official song of NYC. The shoes will retail for $230 at Geox’s store on West 34th Street, right across from the landmark that inspired them.

Patek Philippe 5960P Blue Dial Chronograph

Patek Philippe should be covered more often on this here site, but then it may get overblown the way Hublot has. So we’ll play it safe and roll with the finest of watchmakers as only necessary. Today, it is necessary. We bring attention to the Patek Philippe 5960P Blue Dial Chronograph with the help of Perpetuelle. “Lust” is about the only word that comes to mind. “This watch, combining two of the most popular horological complications (calendar and chronograph), has ranked among of Patek’s bestsellers since it was launched in 2006. This year’s third and newest addition to the collection has a vivid matte blue sunburst dial that is undoubtedly the defining element of this watch.” The case: platinum. My wallet: empty. I dare not list the retail price (think about a year’s salary for most…)

Cindy Crawford Hosts DIFFA’s Dining by Design

Last night we had the pleasure of attending DIFFA’s Dining by Design. The event, which benefits the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, took place at Pier 94 in NYC. Several designers, architects and brand’s including Ralph , Walt Disney Signature, and Continental Airlines had the opportunity to decorate a table to suit their aesthetic and then invited guests to dine in their spruced up vignette. Cindy Crawford and JCPenney hosted the event and fittingly the supermodel designed a table with the Cindy Crawford Style for JCPenney collection. Crawford, who wore Roberto Cavalli’s diamond star stamped silk beaded mini dress, was joined by hubby Randy Gerber and received gazes from dozens of adoring fans. After dinner the crowd circulated the space to check out the creations and indulge in red velvet cupcakes and macaroons. It was certainly a delicious design spectacle!
