Donna Karan Wants a Fashion Revolution
Ever wonder why, when you go shopping for a cute new bikini in the middle of the summer, stores are selling parkas and sweaters? So does Donna Karan. Frankly, she thinks the entire system should be changed and that the public is ready for it. “I hate to say it, somebody’s got to take the leap of faith and deal with the June, July market,” she told WWD. “Pre-fall shouldn’t exist, I’m sorry. Wrong. Let’s start there. We’ve got to bring clothes into season.” Wait, no pre-fall? Whatever would we do without that … sort of made-up season? According to Donna, we’d fold it into fall, and the rollout for merchandise would actually be when customers are shopping for fall items. That actually makes sense. Huh.
The root of this problem, Donna contends, is that we’re overloaded. We have too much staring at us, kind of like how we’re all eating too much.
You eat all of the food, more, more, more, more and more. It’s an abundance of nausea. It’s too, too much until pop! It’s going to pop. All of this stuff, stuff, stuff, stuff; it’s going to obliterate each other. The whole thing has to be rethought, completely.
Lady Gaga Wears Viktor & Rolf in Jail and Other Fabulous Fashion in “Telephone”
In her new avant garde fashion fest of a video “Telephone” featuring Beyonce, Gaga wears a fabulous custom Viktor & Rolf jumpsuit. “Lady Gaga asked us to design a prisoner's outfit," explain the designers. "This is how we imagined Gaga if she would be incarcerated. She inspired us and her bodysuit was included in our brand new "glamour factory" collection. It is styled with a huge pile of exaggerated metal chain necklaces.”
An homage to the 60s & 70s violence-driven sexploitation flicks like "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" and the women-in-prison genre (or WIP to true grindhouse afficionados), Tarantino's fabulous Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill ("I'm Buck, and I'm here to fuck!") even makes an appearance! Shaggy Strength Of A Woman
Na-na! Don’t laugh, now! This week, we’ve been (read I’ve been) passing too easily through the International Women’s Day (post-Oscar rush) so I’m making up for it!
This is one of the most amazing songs I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening glorifying this world’s women. Shaggy. Yes, Shaggy! His Strength of a Woman uplifts me no matter what I’m doing or how cloudy the skies decide to be that day! (or night!) Thank you for this most amazing week, again! There’s little out on in the Internet about this great song from Shaggy. Besides the well-known fact that it was released in 2002 on the “Lucky Day” album, the Strength of a Woman didn’t seem to impress much the Internet population as to produce something notable from the under/grounds of this piece. Which is a crying shame since the song really comes as optimistic and energetic for a woman’s spirit.
