Selima Hats for Spring/Summer 2010

Selectism - Selima Hats for Spring/Summer 2010

Here’s a look at some hats (some unisex) from the Selima collection. “Each hat is hand blocked, then hand sewn in New York City in a discreet atelier below Selima’s Bond 07 shop on Bond Street. Promeyrat and her design team thoughtfully customize each hat with vintage and antique trimmings… The Spring/Summer 2010 collection from Selima hats features a range of shapes including two unisex fedoras, a capeline, a bowler… they arrive in a… hatbox that is useful for… storage. ”

Sequins, minis, chains and lots of gold once again dominated at Balmain. Clocked Supergrau today via this fantastic leather saddle. It’s essentially a magnetic knife block, capable of holding 8 knives, but a damn sight sexier than the normal. It fits over several cutting boards, thus providing handsome storage for those too. The chosen material, leather, clearly well-suited to the aging that scraps and cuts will undoubtedly manage. We like aged boots, so why not well aged kitchen accessories too?

Supergrau was founded earlier this year and provides really nice twists to typical home needs. All pieces are hand-crafted near their home base of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Gareth Pugh Autumn/Winter 2010 Runway

Selectism - Gareth Pugh Autumn/Winter 2010 Runway

CqC brings us looks from Gareth Pugh’s Autumn/Winter 2010 runway presentation. The three looks above are what I consider to be the most conservative from this collection which focuses strongly on silhouettes that look cut (or rather borrow) from certain oversized characteristics usually found in a feminine collection. That is not to take away from the progression of fashion towards new terrain which may not be fully embraced… yet. The long overcoat (seen in the gallery) should wake up the comments section.

Apparently Christian Siriano’s Bravo Show Is Just a One-Hour Special

Christian Siriano has been glowing about his return to Bravo in his very own show for months. Bravo announced Siriano’s solo television project in October, and he told us in November it would be a lot like seminal fashion-documentary films The September Issue and Valentino: The Last Emperor. But apparently the show isn’t a series, it’s just a one-hour special. The program, which will air on April 5, is called Having a Moment (not a series!) and will follow Siriano as he prepares for Fashion Week, does Emmy fittings, and balances his personal and work lives. “It’s going to be really serious, like not so campy. There are a lot of moments that are just silent and like working and like really how serious the business is, because it’s really hard, it really is,” he told us months ago.

That means “fierce” is no longer his catchphrase of choice. This time around, he plans to cram in at least four new ones into the hour. They include “je n’ais,” “j’adore,” “genius,” and “moment” — as in, “we’re having a moment.” He’s right. There’s nothing campy about peppering fawny fashion speak with French. Don’t you love when people do that?

The Bridal Beat: Attend The Ultimate Engagement

engagementevent
The thought of a bridal show makes me slightly nervous. I imagine a packed ballroom full of tacky vendors hawking their wares. But when I heard about The Ultimate Engagement I was quite intrigued. The event, which will be held at Gotham Hall on Sunday, March 14th from 9am-7pm, brings together the wedding industry’s most prestigious resources will stylish couples for face-to-face appointments. Vendors like Belle Fleur, Armani, Creative Edge Parties and Sylvia Weinstock will be on hand to meet one-on-one with chic brides and grooms.  It sounds far less hectic than other options are far more exclusive. I will surely be there scoping out the photographers, florists, and event designers. See you there!
Admission is free for you and a guest; sign up at ultimate-engagement.com.

Lacoste for United Arrows Polo Shirts

Selectism - Lacoste for United Arrows Polo Shirts

Our polo fans will be excited to see this offering from Lacoste for Japan’s United Arrows. The “Big Boarder” and “Piping Skipper” are explored through black and white variations and color blocking. A subtle contrasting piping on the sleeves finishes these off well.
