Samantha Gradoville Is Milan’s Top Model

Imaxtree
Without a doubt Milan is the most difficult Fashion Week to book — when you have runway staples like Freja Beha, Natasha Poly, and Anja Rubik dominating the runways, the rookies might seem a little irrelevant. Even Carmen Kass made an appearance to open and close for Dsquared2′s collection. But if there’s one show that always casts against the grain, it’s the powers that be at Prada. Casting director Russell Marsh anointed Samantha Gradoville the chosen one to open and close the week’s biggest show. Being that it was the Omaha native’s first season in Milan, we’ve got to give credit to this classically beautiful newcomer. See who else opened and closed on Milan’s runways in our slideshow.

Matching Haute Couture With Fast Fashion Labels Yes, You Can!
The proof in images! One, actually, as it retained my attention with that lovely mini tan Hermes bag! (have I told you I’m a Hermes fan? Maybe not in the open, but I’m sure you figured it out already given the signs!)
This lovely young lady matched her Hermes bag and her simple black high heels Christian Louboutin red soles shoes with clothes from Zara. Toned down yet carefully studying the details of her look, she managed a wonderful mix between haute labels and fast fashion brands. Didn’t she? (you can vote right after the picture) (photo via)

Striptease on a Trapeze!
In researching the history of lingerie for a book we're authoring for Quantum Publishing (out this fall), we might have inadvertently discovered why it took Thomas Edison at least 1000 ways to finally get the lightbulb right…he apparently was spending his spare time shooting video of his favorite performer, Charmion, a Victorian striptease artist who took to her trapeze in full Victorian finery. Clad in multiple petticoats, slips, corsets, and elaborate hats of the era (fun factoid: the typical Victorian woman wore an average of 11 weighty pounds of undergarments), Charmion would mount the trapeze and then proceed to strip down to her leotard, all the while "performing impressive and strength-dependent stunts."
Edison, apparently, was one of her most ardent fans, and in 1901, she let him shoot this short but hilarious (in particular, the overenthusiastic Mutt-and-Jeff audience-duo precariously perched in the balcony on the left) "Trapeze Disrobing Act."

Superfine At Net A Porter
When it comes to denim I am all in favour of flying the flag. There aren’t many UK premium denim brands so I like to help promote the ones that are out there. Superfine been producing great skinny jeans for a number of years now and their new collection has just arrived at Net A Porter meaning that no matter whether you live in the US or Europe you can now get your hands on a pair.
