#NYFW Moncler Grenoble Takes Winter Fashion to new Heights

monclerpresentation #NYFW Moncler Grenoble Takes Winter Fashion to new Heights
Moncler Grenoble elevated the fashion week experience this season. The brand, which is usually associated with winter sports, invited fashion insiders to The Golf Club at Pier 59 Sunday evening to check out the Fall 2010 collection of luxe and practical outerwear. Guests were greeted with silver thermoses full of hot chocolate and warm cider before being escorted out to the driving range where a four story piece of scaffolding had been assembled. Over 75 models stood on the platform in the frigid New York air throughout the two hour presentation; but lucky for them they were wearing Moncler!

Sarah Jessica Parker is Right at Home at Halston

sarahjessicaparkerathalston Sarah Jessica Parker is Right at Home at Halston
Sarah Jessica Parker
is a true style icon so it’s only fitting that she is now designing for one of the most iconic fashion house’s secondary lines. And when we spotted Parker at Monday night’s Halston presentation she seemed right at home. The Sex and the City star took in creative director Marios Schwab’s debut collection with a smile on her face. Clad in a gold top that harkened back to the brand’s disco roots, Parker was pleased. “It’s not like I had anything to do with it,” said Parker. “I’m just happy to be part of this incredible design team.” And unlike many celebrity designers who shy away from interviews, Parker was quite gracious. “I feel like I talk too much, I can just keep going,” she said. And we hope she does. And after an impressive Fall 2010, we’re looking forward to seeing the launch of Parker’s Halston Heritage collection.

alicetemperleyinframe #NYFW Style Setter: Alice Temperley
British designer Alice Temperley, who launched her eponymous collection in 2000, is known for her impeccably constructed quirky creations. In recent seasons the London-based Temperley has shifted from a traditional runway show to unique multimedia presentations.  For Fall 2010 Temperley has created a ingenious installation entitled “True British,” which she will present this evening at Milk Studios. Her latest designs will be shown alongside original photographic prints by the late Norman Parkinson and a series of new photographic artwork of modern iconic British women. GlamChic caught up with Temperley to talk about her current inspirations, restaurant obsessions, and the last thing she Googled. ~Nola Weinstein

Where will you be wining and dining this season?
I love the new and intimate Joseph Leonard restaurant in the West Village.
To get my pub-fix while in NYC, I go for dinner at the Breslin.
If popping out after a late night in our Soho space, I’ll have a steak at Raoul’s or dine on delicious seasonal fare at Hundred Acres on MacDougal Street.

#NYFW Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Fall 2010 Show

eccodomani #NYFW Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Fall 2010 Show

Great wine and great fashion is our kind of combo. The Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation (yes the company that makes delicious vino put on a show to remember last night to commemorate the fashion industry’s final year at Bryant Park. The Foundation, which acts as the vehicle to catapult new and emerging designers to success and prominence in the fashion world, has donated over one million dollars to support the work of young emmerging talent. It has jump started the careers of such notable names as Zac Posen, Alexander Wang and Vena Cava. With Robert Verdi hosting and the fresh new faces in fashion presenting, there was no surprise to the long list of celebrities in attendance. From actresses Kate Walsh, Molly Sims and AnnaLynne McCord to socialite Tinsley Mortimer, all  were interested in getting a first look at the next ‘big name’ in fashion. The show, featuring designs of The Blonds, Prova, Prabal Gurung, Siki Im, Altuzarra, Salvor and Organic, had something for everyone – men’s clothes women’s clothes, shirts, scarves, jackets and more. The eclectic collections were filled with stunning wool coats by Prabal Gurung, eco conscious plaid jackets and tweed pants by Organic and ‘hipstertastic’ suits by Siki Im, complete with backpack straps to protect jackets from being lost. The Blonds may have been the first designers to grace the runway but their creations definitely will not fade from our memory, with crowd pleasing outfits including a spiky dress and an armor inspired corset reminiscent of the Middle Ages. When the show was over, a smile remained on our faces and we left with the knowledge that we had witnessed true inspiration. We cant wait to see what these innovative designers come up with next. Bryant Park may be the venue of the past but these designers are the spirit of what’s in store for the future!

#NYFW Vera Wang Fall 2010 Collection

#NYFW Vera Wang Fall 2010 Collection
The “bride wore black” at Vera Wang’s Fall 2010 show. And whether you head down the aisle in one of her darker creations or fancy something a bit more traditional, this season’s designs were nothing short of spectacular. Inspired by Film Noir, Wang’s designs evinced a sense of youth, romance and mystery. From day to night, pants, jackets and dresses played on texture and interesting fabric combinations.  Look out for the vest as a fall must have. Wang made hers luxe with fur detail. Jewelry continues to be strong and watching the models go by in distressed pearls made us want to pile our strands on.  And while we have long coveted Wang’s evening designs, this collection has us dreaming of wearing her tailored pieces 365 days a year.

Model Diary: Marcel Castenmiller Eats Meatballs, Thinks About Beer

20100216 marcelmodeldiary 190x190 Model Diary: Marcel Castenmiller Eats Meatballs, Thinks About Beer

We gave male model Marcel Castenmiller a Flip video camera in hopes that he might capture some Fashion Week magic for us. And oh, he most certainly did. In this video, you’ll see male models do things that female models would never do on-camera during Fashion Week: They fry meatballs, are kinda mean to a dog, smother their potatoes in gravy, and snort fake cocaine (creatively made of candle wax). Enjoy.

#NYFW Max Azria Fall 2010 Collection

maxazria #NYFW Max Azria Fall 2010 Collection

Max Azria is keeping it clean. This season the designer took a minimalist approach using sleek lines and artful tailoring. A neutral palette of soft tones started things off with an ethereal feel before transitioning into basic black. Texture played an integral role in adding an interesting element to crepe, leather, mesh and satin. A black crepe and leather coat dress fused elegance and edge for a standout wardrobe essential. Gray and camel leather pieces made a strong statement while beaded mesh little black dresses were subtle and sexy.
