Fashion Week’s Chicest Chandeliers

Not only has the Heart Truth Fashion Show moved from the morning to the evening, but the ravishing spectacle is also getting dazzling new decor. Three custom-made Swarovski crystal chandeliers will hang from The Tent at Bryant Park. Each dramatic piece is made from more that 5,000 crystals and totals more than 150 pounds. The chandeliers were created for the upcoming film The Black Swan, which stars Natalie Portman. And these aren’t the only stunners you’ll see on the runway; Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian, Felicity Huffman and Robin Roberts will all walk in the show, which aims at promoting women’s heart health. Stay tuned for details on the red dresses….

Trend Alert: Army Parkas
The army trend is back after a few seasons of resting. The army parkas is stylish and chic and you can mix it in any way to make it your own. I prefer the lighter version of the jacket for spring to wear it with jeans, a flowery dress or shorts.

Fashion’s Tragic Loss: Alexander McQueen Dead at 40

Alexander McQueen was found dead Thursday morning in his London apartment. News of the loss hit the Bryant Park Tent at the end of the BCBG show and the industry’s collective jaw dropped. His family released a statement shortly after requesting privacy at this difficult time. “On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family. ”
The brilliant British designer was in the midst of working on his Fall 2010 collection and his McQ presentation was scheduled to today at 3pm in NYC at Milk Studios; the presentation has ofcourse been canceled. After seeing his genius Spring 2010 collection, we can only imagine how incredible it was going to be. GlamChic mourns the loss of this creative innovator and iconic designer.

#NYFW BCBGMAXAZRIA Fall 2010 Collection

Fusing form and function, Max and Lubov Azria delivered a Fall 2010 collection that was fit for the modern urbanista. Black, brown, grey, beige and navy dominated with pops of olive, blue, and yellow. Relying heavily on asymmetry and plays on proportion, several flowier designs were cinched at the waist. A black and white paper thin crew neck long sleeve tee was the show’s must have piece and editors were already talking about buying multiples. The last few looks dazzled with sparkling embellishments and sequined patterns. Black booties paired with off white tights made for an appealing combination. We’re loving BCBG’s new vision of cool! ~Nola Weinstein

Trend Alert: Mis-Match Patterns
Don’t hold back on the mismatch this spring. But make sure everything goes together before leaving your house. If you’re not confident enough about your own styling, you can always cheat by buying a ready made mis-matched dress.
